Pinball Authority scores...Elvis Gold!!!

Managed to get an Elvis Gold (limited edition, 1 of 500)  pin yesterday at auction in Milwaukee for just over $4,000 (with tax and auction commission figured into that fee).  Thought it was a reasonably good deal.  Needs to be shopped, and a new lockbar and some odds and ends, but I think it will be fine.  More to come...
What to you think of that price?  Was it a good deal?

New High Score on TWZ

Got 664,000,000 on TWZ earlier today, a new high for me.  Came close to being "Lost in the Zone" (aren't I already though?).  Very satisfying game.  Indeed, earns its reputation for being a top-rated pin.

What I've been up to ....

Ate too much over Thanksgiving but now that it's over, back to normal.  Plenty of time to work on my pins.  Replaced a few rubbers on Getaway, put in new locks on my Cyclone, and for the first time ever, replaced a few beer seals!  Those things can degrade and get yucky; but look a lot nicer and seems to seal better with the new seals on.  Didn't realize that there are two seals per lockdown bar; one horizontal and one vertical.  Next project:  install some of my new LED's that I just ordered.

Anyone interested in forming a SE Wisconsin pinball group?

I've been wondering about seeing if there is interest for pinball enthusiasts in SE Wisconsin to get together somehow to work on and play pins. Perhaps we could set up our own arcade? What do you think? PS. Is anyone even reading my blog? If so, please let me know, and please take a look at my sponsors' advertisements. Thanks.

A Twilight Zone pinball day - Yay!

So my dreary Sunday ended up being salvaged by "this most unusual" and totally excellent pinball machine, one of the best rated of all in fact, The Twilight Zone.  I love the end sequence and synthesizer music which is reproduced for your enjoyment.  Though my scores could have been better, I had an awesome time none-the-less.  Here's hoping for more pinball time later today.  And hopefully tomorrow too!

A pinball Sunday - Yay!

Some of my collection

A rainy dreary Sunday here in Wisconsin.  Free time at hand.  What to do?  Pinball, that's what.  Plenty to do as always,  such as cleaning, playing, organizing supplies, dreaming about new acquisitions to the collection, etc.  Yes, pinball is good for the soul!

Incredibly nice (and free) free play / instruction cards

TWZ Free Play

Cyclone Free Play

I had the good fortune to recently find a great resource for pinball enthusiasts:  Ken's pinballrebel.com website where one can find custom Free Play, Instruction, and coin door cards to print up to your heart's desire.  There's lots more there as well.

Here are examples of a Twilight Zone Free Play card as compared with the original one that came with the machine.  Big difference, isn't it?  I've also tried out some for Cyclone - a free play card, and an instruction card.  Can't wait to install them.  Check out his website, and give it a try!

LED's

Been trying out some LED's in some of my pins. Can really brighten things up. But sometimes the colors can be distorted from the original. Does changing the color of a light take away from the authenticity of the game; ie, doesn't keep in with the designer's intentions? What do you think?

Pinball Authority joins Blogger

It's amazing just how many on-line tools there are nowadays to enable one to reach the masses.  This is my first foray into the usage of Blogger.  Will be interested in seeing how it goes.  Feel free to check out my website at www.pinballauthority.com.  Many thanks for looking.
